A few years back when we were living in another town I discovered these simple cookies. They call it “galette” in French. A kind lady from the church used to make batches and give them to church folks & we just loved it!

Throughout the years we continued making the same recipe but recently I have made some modifications. Since buckwheat is good for us I decided to incorporate it doing half & half! Adding the secret ingredient, maple syrup, it is the perfect cookie ever made at the Bartons!

 

 

Ingredients :

2 cups white flour

2 cups buckwheat flour

1 cup sugar

3 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

 

1 egg

1 cup milk

1 tsp vanilla

¼ cup oil

6 tbsp maple syrup

 

Preheat the oven at 350°.

In a bowl mix all the liquid ingredients. Then mix all the dry ingredients together. Put it together until you have dough.

Note: If the dough is too wet just add a little bit of flour.

 

On a floured surface, flatten the dough according to the thickness that you like. Start shaping by using a cookie cutter or a drinking glass.

Bake for 10 minutes.

Serve as a snack, great with coffee & tea!
